Women 50+ are curious, capable, loyal, influential, and still becoming. The Queen B’s of bookings, budgets, ballots and brands with a $1.3 Trillion economic footprint making 80% of household decisions.
Their stories, spending power, wisdom, and cultural leadership have been underestimated and can no longer be ignored.
We offer deeply human storytelling that blends travel, purpose, power, wellbeing, and legacy without apology or dilution.
Built by women who’ve lived it—and are still moving forward.
North of 50 maintains a strict separation between editorial content and advertising. Editorial decisions are made independently and are never influenced by commercial partnerships. Any sponsored or advertorial content is clearly and plainly labelled so readers always know what they are reading and why it appears in our pages.
All editorial content is subject to basic fact-checking appropriate to the story. Writers are expected to verify claims, sources, and data, particularly in matters related to health, finances, public policy, and safety. Opinions and personal narratives are clearly presented as such.
We handle sensitive subjects including health, mental wellbeing, finance, faith, Indigenous issues, and geopolitics with care, accuracy, and respect. We avoid sensationalism, fear-based framing, and false certainty, and we recognize the real-world impact these topics can have on readers and communities.
Where artificial intelligence tools are used in research, drafting, editing, or visual creation, that use is disclosed in a clear and transparent manner. Human editorial judgment remains responsible for all published content.
Our standard is simple: readers should always understand what they are reading, why it is there, and whether it serves them.

To support editorial alignment and industry credibility, the magazine is advised by an Advisory Council of Canadian leaders in tourism, hospitality, business, and wellness. Members include:

Tourism is policy. Culture is economy.
The Honourable Lisa MacLeod is a former six-term Ontario MPP and Cabinet Minister who held senior portfolios including Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services, and Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues.
Her leadership placed tourism at the centre of economic development, community vitality, and cultural identity. At North of 50, Lisa brings a policy-driven lens to tourism storytelling—advocating for destinations, operators, and regions to recognize women over 50 as a powerful economic force. Through professional consultations, she advises governments and tourism organizations on strategy, positioning, and public accountability in an increasingly experience-driven economy.
Tourism succeeds when leadership understands both policy and hospitality.
Susan Truppe is a former Member of Parliament for London North Centre and Parliamentary Secretary for the Status of Women, with leadership roles on the Standing Committee on the Status of Women and the Special Committee on Violence Against Indigenous Women. Alongside her federal political career, Susan brings more than 15 years of senior hospitality leadership, with deep, hands-on expertise in the hotel sector, where operational excellence, guest experience, and brand reputation intersect.
At North of 50, she applies this dual lens—public policy and hospitality leadership—to advance smarter tourism narratives and stronger destination positioning. Through professional consultations, Susan advises tourism organizations, hotel groups, and public-sector partners on communications strategy, stakeholder engagement, and leadership visibility in highly competitive markets.
Tourism needs narrative leadership—not just marketing.
Daniela Siggia Beasant brings decades of experience in media, corporate, and political strategy, shaping narratives where influence, identity, and public perception matter.
At North of 50, she leads creative and content direction with a focus on tourism as lived experience—rejecting surface-level promotion in favour of storytelling that reflects culture, confidence, and intentional travel. Daniela works closely with destinations and organizations ready to speak to discerning, values-driven travellers over 50. Through strategic consultations, she advises tourism operators and public-sector partners on creative direction, narrative clarity, and positioning that moves beyond campaigns and into long-term brand relevance.

North of 50 was born from a culture that already existed. Through Secord Strategies, strategic advisory work intersected with a growing community of women who were travelling, leading, questioning, and reshaping what life over 50 could look like. That energy found its public voice through Wandering Women: North of 50—a flagship community and Facebook group that proved there was both appetite and authority in women-led conversation. Together, they created the momentum that inspired this magazine: informed by experience, grounded in strategy, and driven by a culture that was already moving forward.
